Our members include both emerging and established playwrights, which encourages a strong community sense of open and honest feedback in a constructive manner. Many of our members have achieved recognition via playwriting competitions and grants based on work we have helped to foster.

100 scripts were assessed in 2006, and many were given public readings by professional actors.

Short Play Season

Our short play competition is held annually and approximately 10-14 plays are selected for performance. In 2006, COLOURS – was produced in September/October at the Carlton Courthouse. Seventy-seven plays were submitted, fifty of which were given public readings by professional actors, after which fourteen plays were selected to be included in the production.

In 2008 MWT is again excited that our short play season,  MelBorn, will be part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
