Membership

We encourage you to apply for membership to the Melbourne Writers’ Theatre if you are a writer, actor, director, producer or just simply curious about the whole process of playwriting and theatre performance. Our membership base has a wide range of experience in all facets of theatre including: writing, acting, directing and producing theatre.

Membership benefits include:

• Free access to our script development process and feedback from members
• Discounted entry fee for our annual short play competition
• By special arrangement, MWT is entitled to enter members’ plays into the prestigious Wal Cherry competition. A full-length play, having been given one of our rehearsed public readings, is eligible for consideration as a MWT entry into this renowned Victorian competition
• Opportunity to apply for discounted theatre hire rates for productions at the Carlton Courthouse during two season times per year (only valid for plays that have been through our development process) - see Member's Season
• All members receive our monthly newsletter by email or post, which includes MWT updates, industry news and playwriting opportunities
• The MWT also provides ready access to a network of Victoria’s performing arts professionals.

Member's Season 2008

MWT members are invited to submit full length or one act plays for the  Member's season at the Carlton Courthouse 15th - 25th October

This opportunity allows a member to have the Courthouse for $250 per  week for a fortnight. Production and publicity for this season is the
individual's responsibility but MWT will support the successful  person/persons in any way possible.

Proposals must include a budget, director, cast etc and plays must not have been produced and have had a professional reading. Joint
submissions will be considered. Submissions must be received by the 14th of June and will then be assessed by a nominated committee.

This is a great opportunity so don't hesitate, send us your plays!

Fees:

• Full- $65 per year
• Concession - $45 per year
• Student - $30 per year
• Associate - (Actors & Directors) - $20 per year
