Expressions of Interest - Dramaturge - MelBorn 2010 Season
Expressions of interest are sought for a suitably experienced Dramaturge to assess submissions and draft a program for the Melbourne Writers’ Theatre’s 2010 MelBorn Season.

In 2010 MWT, Members have been invite to submit plays ranging in length between 45 minutes and 90 minutes .
MelBorn will run over 6 weeks with the program changing on a fortnightly basis.
A program of productions of no more than 2 hours in length will for 2 weeks each.


An example of how the season might  be programmed
·    Week 1 – Production A ( 50 min) &   Production B (45 min)
·    Week 2 – Production C (1 hr 45 min)
·    Week 3 – Production D (40 min) & Production E (1 hour)

The appointed Dramaturge will assess each of the plays submitted by the Melbourne Writers’ Theatre Committee for the Season,
providing a written report and recommending which plays should be given a production including suggesting programming for the Season.

The committee will submit all plays as “clean” copies with no names or details of the playwrights included.
It is planned for the Dramaturge to assess up 8 plays and select from 3-6 for production as appropriate.
The fee offered by the MWT for this undertaking is $300


Key dates:
  • Expressions of Interest for a Dramaturge close – February 20th 2010
  • Final play submissions due to Melbourne Writers’ Theatre – February 28th 2010
  • Plays delivered to selected Dramaturge -  week beginning 1st March 2010
  • Dramaturge makes selections and provides reports/details to Melbourne Writers’ Theatre – 1st April 2010
